Travel to and from Christchurch Airport
There are several options available to you to travel into town from the airport. You can find further information on the different options below. You can find an overview map of the Christchurch airport parking options (incl. taxi stands, bus stops etc.) here. As an international traveller, you will most likely leave the airport in the bottom left of the map, directly in front of the taxi stands and next to the bus/coach stands.
Christchurch's public transport systyem is operated by Metroinfo. A cash fare (single trip) to or from the airport to anywhere in Christchurch costs $8.50. A return ticket is $15.00. You can buy your ticket on the bus (cash only!). The airport is serviced by the Purple Line, line 29 and line 125.
The Purple Line The Purple Line takes you directly to the University (the conference venue). It runs every 30 minutes. The trip from the airport to the University takes 15 minutes. It takes 30 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre (Bus Interchange) on the Purple Line.
Line 29 Line 29 is a direct connection between the airport and the city. This line runs every 30 minutes. The whole trip from the airport to the city centre takes about 30-40 minutes.
